The Smart-Gilas Pilipinas 2.0 headed by Coach Chot Reyes begins its campaign in the 24th Dubai International Basketball Tournament slated on January 10 (Thursday) through January 19, 2013 (Saturday) at 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM Dubai local time.
Smart Gilas 2.0 team is composed of naturalized center Marcus Douthit, PBA’s JR Reyes, Ronjay Buenafe and KG Canaleta in the absence of the pro players who helped Smart Gilas win the Jones Cup in Taipei last year.
Other players to complete the lineup are Garvo Lanete, Greg Slaughter, RR Garcia, Ronald Pascual, Kevin Alas, Jake Pascual and overseas-born Filipino dribblers Matt Rosser, Justin Melton and Isaac Holstein.
The Gilas squad will play on Group B of the sporting event along with Lebanon’s Mouttahed Tripoli, host Al Ahli and Sporting Aramex of Jordan.
